Once you're registered with the library, the Librarians can help you with interlibrary loans and literature searching.

Athens - to apply for an NHS Athens username and password you need to complete an online form. For more details click here. PCMD and university students should check with their university librarian to find out how to access university resources.

Registration Form - anyone in the NHS 'family' in Devon can register, including students on placement at the RDE and in Primary Care. DPT staff please check the Wonford House Hospital pages.

Request a book or article - interlibrary loans - these are free IF it's for your everyday NHS work; if it's for a course or for funded research we may need to charge £8.50 per request.

Literature Searching

Do you need a search to be done or do you want to learn how to search?

A: If you need to do a specific search of the literature for your work, Mary Smith, the Nursing Librarian can help you - she can:

1: Do the search with you in a one-to-one session in the library
2: Do the search for you

To request a search fill in the Literature Search Request form.

B: Do you need to learn how to do a search for work or for a course?

David Newman the Library Trainer can help you - he runs sessions for individuals or groups. He can:

1: run basic, refresher and advanced courses - these can be in the library or at your workplace (if there is more than one person)
2: also help with referencing (using EndNote / Reference Manager) and where to find full text articles.

David can help with many other aspects of finding, presenting and processing information, using the internet, NHS resources, Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
