    Staffed Opening Hours
Wonford House Library (Tel: 01392 674107)
Staffed times tend to be very adhoc. Probably best to phone first or email Mary Smith on mary.smith30@nhs.net

How do I join the Library?
You will need to fill in a registration form Click here for Registration form You will be expected to give your name and an address where you can be easily contacted. You will also need to produce an ID badge or provide the name of a supervisor or someone who can vouch for you. Once you have registered, you will be given the combination number of the library door so that you can have 24 hour access to the library if desired.

How do I borrow books from the Library?
The library has a "self-service" system so that books can be borrowed when Library staff are not available. There is a computerised catalogue, showing what books are held in the library. Click here for Library catalogue.

Wonford House Hospital books are identified by WHH in the location field.

    Loan Period
The loan period is 28 days. If you require a book for a longer period, you may apply to renew it for a further 28 days, provided nobody else is waiting to borrow the book. Books can be renewed by telephone, email or postal request. You may return books via the internal post if you are unable to do so in person. However, they remain your responsibility until they are safely back in the library. If you do not return your books on time, you will be sent two reminders.Once the book is more than two months overdue, steps will be taken to invoice you for the price of the non-returned book. You have been warned!

What happens if the library doesn't have what I want?
Don't panic! You can use the interlibrary loan system. Our libraries are members of a co-operative scheme which consists of nearly two hundred libraries, all containing information on health care issues. Fill in a request form, giving as much detail as possible about the item you wish to obtain. The forms should be filled in legibly in blue or black ink/biro, one form per request. Any forms deemed illegible will be returned.

If you feel the library would benefit by purchasing a particular book, please let the Librarian know. All suggestions will be considered.

    Computer searching
Full internet access is available at the library site and at various points throughout the Trust. You will need a username and password from the IT department.

The following databases are available: AMED, BNI, CINAHL, EMBASE, HMIC, MEDLINE and PSYCINFO. These can be accessed through the NHS Evidence link on the Exeter Health Library website. The Librarian is happy to assist anyone who needs help with literature searching. The Librarian can also provide a current awareness service to those wishing to keep up to date in a particular field.
