Year 12 Residential
In 2012 the University of Exeter will be hosting two Year 12 Summer Residentials, one at our Exeter based Streatham Campus and the other at our Tremough Campus in Cornwall. More details about each can be found below so take a look at the dates and academic programmes to help you decide which would be most relevant for you before you book.
Note – places on both residentials are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will try and arrange for you to attend your first preference residential however unfortunately this may not always be possible.
Streatham Campus Residential
The Exeter Year 12 Residential will last four days, from 19th – 22nd June 2012, and is based on the University of Exeter Streatham Campus. Throughout your time with us you will have the opportunity to attend a range of academic sessions and get involved in a busy evening programme as well. Here are some of the highlights –
Academic Programme
Given that this year see’s London as the host for the Olympic Games our academic programme is designed to get you thinking about the event from a whole range of different subject perspectives. On the agenda you can expect to see sessions run by academics from the following discipline areas –
- Geography
- Politics
- Sociology
- Film Studies
- Sports Science
- Business
- Languages
- Biosciences
We’ll also be asking you to complete a group research activity culminating in a presentation at the end of the event. You’ll have the chance to use the excellent university library facilities and on the last day the gold medallists will be decided!
In addition to this you’ll also get some advice from our expert Employability & Graduate Development staff on presentation techniques and making the most out of your time at university, as well an opportunity to test your financial skills.
Social Programme
Going to university is about the whole student experience and so while you’re in Exeter we will be sending you off for the afternoon on the Exeter City Scavenger Hunt, with the help of our student ambassadors, to find out a bit more about the area. You’ll also have the opportunity to relax in halls, take part in a range of sporting activities (to suit all levels) and meet some of our past students who will be able to give you some insight on how they have got to where they are today.
All your meals, your transport and the activities will be provided so the event is entirely free!
